Implementation of the testing manual 2015

Following the launch of the 2015 testing manual in October 2015 the 2015 Handbook of Test Methods (Link to 2015 manual) became the only valid testing handbook on 1 January 2017. Laboratory and field-testing to previous versions of the testing manual is no longer accepted other than for re-tests.

Field test by an independent test institute

The requirements for the certification of the football turf installation should be mentioned in the tender document and be agreed with the contractor in the agreement. This ensures that the contractor is aware of the quality criteria needed for this project and can offer a product with a valid FIFA laboratory test report.

The field test must be conducted by one of the FIFA-accredited field test institutes according to the Handbook of Test Methods. The field is granted either FIFA QUALITY or FIFA QUALITY PRO and appears in the FIFA Field Database only if the final installation passes the field test.

For international matches between the teams of two confederations or for international club competitions, certification is mandatory.
