The standards for FIFA-certified balls are continually being raised.
Even the slightest flaw in a ball will influence the way it flies through the air and rolls along the ground. The FIFA Quality Programme strives to continually improve the quality of FIFA-certified balls, which is why the criteria that are in place are subjected to regular reviews and, if necessary, amended accordingly.
FIFA sees the needs of the football market as the core basis for all its research. Based on this idea, the FIFA Quality Programme for Footballs undertakes research on key criteria that affect a football’s quality, in order to continuously improve the Quality certificate. All findings are discussed in a “working group” consisting of representatives from the football industry and experts from universities and testing institutes. The recommendations of this working group help FIFA to continue improving the quality of footballs.
